Thursday, January 29, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Before any tutoring you MUST go to one orientation with Eva Mejia, the volunteer coordinator at Preuss School (pick any of the ones listed above). All orientations will be held in the conference room which is located in the main office of Preuss. Preuss is located on the east side of campus, next to Scripps Hospital. You can use the East Parking Shuttle, which will drop you off across the street from Preuss. Orientations should last about an hour depending on the group size. If you have questions, please contact Lisa Sugimori at lsugimor@gmail.com (PASS project coordinator) or Eva Mejia, Preuss Volunteer Coordinator, at (858) 658-7473 or emejia@ucsd.edu.

ON CAMPUS RECYCLING

ROOM VISITS

Coordinator: Lindsy Godair (lgodair@ucsd.edu)

Saturday, January 31st, February 14th and 28th, 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

Sit and make a new friend by visiting with an elderly member of the classical residence in La Jolla. This project provides the opportunity to spend time with and brighten the day of one of our city's very own pearls of wisdom. Your day may even be brightened!

Coordinator: Omeed Oveyssi (koveyssi@aol.com)

Sunday, February 1st, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

We will be collecting anything that can be recycled on campus.

FLYERING

Coordinator: Jenny Li (mjli@ucsd.edu)

Sunday, February 1st and 15th, 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Help pass out flyers for PASS!
It's easy and fun.
It's also a great way to meet and talk to the officers!

NEIGHBORHOOD CLEANUP

Coordinator Phildrich Teh (pteh@ucsd.edu)

Saturday, February 7th, 8:00 Am - 3:00 pm

The Harris Fire Recovery Center has given PASS a great opportunity to help those who lost their homes due to the 2007 wildfire crisis. This project would require PASS members to clear brush around the homes of those victims that are too old and poor to do the cleanup by themselves. Most of the fire victims have been waiting for over a year to move in and perhaps would never do so if no one helps. Furthermore, insurances will withdraw their homes and the county can issue hefty fines of up to $3,000. Come out and make a difference! We will meet at Sungod and please email me if you are interested. Rides will be provided and anyone who volunteers to drive will be reimbursed. Remember that these people are counting on you so don’t miss out!

St. Vincent DePaul Villages Health Clinic Volunteering/Informational Session

Coordinator: Omeed Oveyssi (koveyssi@aol.com)

Sunday, February 8th, 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Volunteer work at Saint Paul De Anda Villages Health Clinic. Talking to Doctor Searles about his program called "RecreationRX" and how to get more involved.

TIJUANA MISSION TRIP

Coordinator: Phildrich Teh (pteh@ucsd.edu)

Saturday, February 21st, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

In partnership with a local community church, PASS would be going down to Tijuana to spend a day with the less fortunate children at Centro Shalom. In this project, PASS members would have the opportunity to:

1.) prepare and serve food

2.) play with the little kids and make them smile =)

3.) help out in giving away warm blankets for the kids to take home

Come and help out, together we can make a lifetime impact on these children. Bring your warm smile and I hope to see you there!

PREUSS TUTORING

Coordinator: Lisa Sugimori (lsugimor@gmail.com)

Saturday, February 21st and 28th, 9:00 am - 11:00 am

The Preuss School, a nationally recognized charter middle and high school located right here at UCSD, is looking for tutors. It's a great and easy way to give back, meet some wonderful and accomplished students and take a break from studying. We have classes
from 6th grade to 12th grade. Preuss is located on the east side of campus, next to Scripps Hospital. You can use the East Parking Shuttle, which will drop you off across the street from Preuss.
Weekday tutoring is possible as well- contact Lisa Sugimori for more information

NOTE: Before any tutoring you MUST go to an orientation with Eva Mejia, the volunteer coordinator at Preuss School. After you have gone to an orientation, e-mail Lisa Sugimori with the date of when you plan to start!

SPECIAL OLYMPICS POLAR PLUNGE

Coordinator: Teresa Bau (tbau@ucsd.edu)

Saturday, February 28th, 8:00 am – 11:00 am

This is Special Olympic's annual fundraiser event which is soooooo much fun. Held at Oceanside Pier, this event involves plunging into the Pacific Ocean early in the morning and staying in for as long as you can handle the icy deliciousness! PASS got an award for most plungers last year, so let's see if we can have the biggest team again this year! You don't need to know how to swim....just slightly masochistic enough (which pre-meds are anyway) to tolerate the cold! =)

To join a project you must email the event’s coordinator with a request to be added to list of attendees, or sign up with the coordinator at a general body meeting.

If you have them, please don’t forget to wear your PASS shirt to projects and socials!

All drivers that volunteer to help drive will be reimbursed.

If you have any questions, please send an email to pass@ucsd.edu Please do not send emails to this address

Sincerely,
Ronald Chang
